Heba (PhD, US CMA, MSc, BSc) is a Lecturer in Accounting at Birmingham City University (BCU). She is a US Certified Management Accountant (US CMA) with extensive experience in accounting education. Previously, Heba held the position of visiting lecturer in accounting at Nottingham Trent University and postgraduate teaching assistant at the University of Nottingham.

Heba has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences, workshops, and seminars, including the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA), the Financial Reporting and Business Communication Conference (FRBC), the European Forum for Studies of Policies for Research and Innovation (Eu-SPRI), the African Accounting and Finance Association Conference (AAFA), the International Symposium on Accounting Information Systems (ISAIS), and the Nottingham University Business School PhD Conference.

Heba serves as an ad hoc reviewer for several international academic journals. Her research has received national recognition, including the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA) Doctoral Masterclass Award in Accounting in 2022. She was also awarded a £2,000 doctoral bursary by the BAFA Financial Accounting and Reporting Special Interest Group in recognition of the quality and potential impact of her research.

Heba’s research interests include financial reporting, corporate governance, corporate digital responsibility, cybersecurity reporting, sustainability, and corporate political activity. Her research has been published in leading international, peer-reviewed journals, including Research Policy and the Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation.

Heba welcomes PhD students interested in similar research areas. Heba’s office is in Curzon Building, Room C212.
