Doaa Abdelnaeim is a Lecturer in Internal Auditing in the Faculty of Business, Law and Social Sciences at Birmingham City University (BCU). She brings extensive professional and academic experience that spans the United Arab Emirates, Canada, India, Germany, and the UK. Before joining BCU, she served as Communication Manager for a major government-affiliated industrial group in Dubai, leading corporate projects across international markets.

At BCU, she contributes to teaching and curriculum development for modules that align directly with the 2024 Global Internal Audit Standards and the Chartered IIA competency framework. She is committed to integrating real-world audit practice and strategic management principles into learning to enhance students’ critical and professional competence.

Doaa’s current research focuses on the intersection of internal audit leadership, governance, equity, and cultural intelligence. She is developing her doctoral study titled “Positioning Internal Audit as a Strategic Partner: Enhancing Value Creation, Governance and Risk Management through DEI and Cultural Intelligence.” Her publications and book chapters address themes of networks, accountability, and inclusion in higher education.

She regularly contributes to professional and academic conferences (British Accounting and Finance Association – IPSIG 2024, BCU Learning and Teaching Futures Conference 2024, and Entrepreneurial Finance Recovery Conference 2024) and collaborates with the Chartered IIA and industry partners on pedagogical and research initiatives linking academia and practice.
