Welcome Message

Congratulations and Welcome to Birmingham City University. On behalf of the course team, may I welcome you to BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying course. I wish you every success in your study and hope you have a really good experience here at Birmingham City University and a successful career following your graduation. As a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying student, we hope you are looking forward to the course and looking forward to taking your first steps to becoming a Chartered Quantity Surveyor.

The BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying is a degree course which seeks to prepare construction professionals for an exciting and challenging career in construction and infrastructure in the UK and abroad. The course has been designed in line with the needs of potential employers in the public, private and third sectors. It has also been developed in accordance with the requirements of The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Both forms of accreditation will allow you to progress through your studies as a student member and before working towards your professional qualification in Industry.

Today’s construction industry is facing the challenges of globalisation, climate change, demanding clients and a complex regulatory framework. The growing importance of technology and integrated delivery plays an increasingly important role in the industry. This surveying degree will give you the skills to deal with these challenges and more. With innovation at the core of the programme, you will learn through creative problem solving and working with our industrial partners.

Many of the tutors in the course have years of practical experience as well as academic qualifications with several members of staff actively involved in our professional bodies and the final assessment of graduates in their professional interviews. If you have any questions about the contents of this Course Guide, need further information or have any concerns at any time during your studies, please do not hesitate to let your Course Leader or Module Tutors know.

I look forward to teaching you, supporting you, and being part of your journey here at Birmingham City University.

We Are Proud To Be BCU!
