Welcome Message

Welcome to BSc (Hons) Psychology with a Foundation Year at BCU!

We’re so excited to welcome you to the Psychology course at Birmingham City University. You’re about to start an exciting journey, and we’ll be here to support you every step of the way. You'll find Psychology on the 3rd floor of the Curzon Building, and we can’t wait to see you on campus soon!

Your Online Induction and Welcome Week are super important—it’s your chance to settle in, meet your lecturers and fellow students, and start feeling at home. Make sure to join in all the activities happening during Welcome Week and beyond; it’s the perfect way to make connections and get into the swing of uni life.

As soon as you enrol, you will be able to access our virtual learning environment Moodle. Please do log onto this and take part in the activities that are there to help you get off to a great start on your course and get to know your course colleagues before you arrive on campus. Birmingham City University is a very friendly place, and you will soon settle in quickly. Remember, everyone is in the same situation and there are lots of people available to support you.

We will also assign you a Personal Tutor who is here to help, whether you have questions, concerns, or just need some guidance. They’ll be a key contact throughout your time at BCU, so it’s worth getting to know them early on.

You’re now part of the BCU Psychology community, and we’re looking forward to working with you to help you succeed. Want to stay in the loop? Follow us on X (@BCU_Psychology) for updates and insights, but we will also have events, groups and activities for you to join as well.

We can’t wait to meet you and welcome you properly to our course—this is going to be a great experience!

Course Location

Curzon building

Your course will mainly be taught in:

Curzon Building, City Centre Campus (Room numbers start with C)

Preparing for Welcome Week

Before you arrive on campus, please take a look at your course Moodle page where you will find lots of useful information to prepare you for Welcome Week, including your required pre-arrival activity.

Supporting your transition

During Welcome Week, you’ll get to meet our Student Ambassadors as soon as you walk onto campus. They’ll be there to support you with finding your Student Support Centre, collecting your ID card and guiding you in the right direction, and for a friendly hello!

First day on Campus

We look forward to welcoming you to Birmingham City University!

You must have your ID card visible at all times when on campus, so if you have received yours before your first day, ensure you bring this with you. If you enrolled late you will need to collect one on campus during your first few days. Please remember that your ID card is for your use only. You must never let anyone else use it.

To complete your enrolment, you will need the following:

  • Passport (or other form of photo ID if you are a UK/EU student)
  • Original qualification documents if applicable (you will be emailed a list of the documents we need to see once you have completed your online enrolment)
  • Visa (international students only)

What else? The rest is up to you! You will find a shop, café, pub, computer access and water fountains on campus, but we do recommend you bring the following on the first day:

  • Laptop, if you have one
  • Notepad and pen
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Snack
  • Money

And remember, the weather in Birmingham can be changeable!
