Students' Union

Birmingham City University Students’ Union (BCUSU) is YOUR Students’ Union, whose priority is to make sure you have the best possible time during your university journey. BCUSU is an independent charity who work alongside the University with issues that can affect your academic, and university, experience.

When you start at BCU, you’re automatically a member of your Students’ Union. This means you have access to all the great things BCUSU does. From societies, to becoming a Course or School Rep, or just having a pizza at the pub!

Get involved

Find a society or sports club to get involved and start making friends from the get-go.

What BCUSU does

When you start, you’ll also have access to our services and facilities, including:

Advice from professionally trained advisers, on issues related to money, health, academia and housing. Find out more here: www.bcusu.com/advice

Societies for you to get involved with and to meet new people. Learn a new hobby or activity, develop your skills, engage with your course mates or practice your faith. You can campaign with Protected Societies, which are free to join and offer a safe-space for under-represented communities. See what you can get involved with here: www.bcusu.com/get-involved

Representation throughout your time here. The Officer team, who you vote for, lead BCUSU and represent you in meetings with the University. Through School and Course Reps, your issues will be listened to and your feedback acted on to help make your student experience better.

Executive Officers

The Students’ Union is run by five elected officers – a President and four Vice Presidents, supported by a team of part-time elected officers, staff and student staff. Each officer represents the views and needs of our students in specific areas.

Keep it social

BCUSU also runs our two main social areas on campus – the Eagle & Ball pub at City Centre Campus and The Social Kitchen at City South Campus.
