Why did you choose the course?
I decided to apply after attending the open day and viewing the facilities that were available to the students. We were also able to meet the course leader and talk to him in more depth as to what the course would involve, as well as ask questions about the course.

Best thing about the course?
I really enjoyed the variety of things we did on the course. It was good to gain skills in closely related areas to video production, such as graphic design, animation and websites.

The hands-on aspect also made it enjoyable, we were encouraged to get stuck in and learn how things worked, rather than just being told.

Looking back on my time at TEE, I realise that I learnt so many skills that I use every day in my job.

Industry relevance
During my course, I was given the opportunity of a week’s work experience at GMTV. This was a fantastic opportunity for me to see how real, live TV works. It also gave me an insight into TV journalism, which we were to cover in the next semester, so it gave me a head start in learning about the processes involved in TV journalism. It also helped me to focus what I’d like to do after university.

After the course, I went on a week’s work experience at a video and interactive media production company and two-and-a-half years later I am still there!

What are you doing now?
I work for a video and interactive media production company called Juice Moving Images in Oxfordshire. I mostly work as an editor but I also produce when required. We mostly make high-end corporate videos and work for clients such as InterContinental Hotels, Barclays, and BMW. We also do adverts and the occasional music video too! Our varied list of clients means that every day is different and there are always new challenges to overcome. We like to keep up with what’s new in terms of kit and techniques, so there is still plenty of learning to be done. Our client list also means that we get to travel a fair bit as well, which is always exciting but also very hard work!

Future plans
My plans are to stay where I am for the moment, to gain more experience and knowledge of the industry. After that, who knows really, but one day I would like to edit or colour for broadcast.
