What is it like to study at BCU?

What is it like to study and live in Birmingham?

What accommodation options are there at BCU?
BCU currently offers eight different self-catering university accommodation options, with a variety of styles and locations, meaning there's one to suit everyone. You can find out more about which options are available and how to apply on our accommodation page.
What is it like for commuter students at BCU?
Commuter students find it really easy to get to BCU as Birmingham is so well located in terms of public transport - trains, buses, coaches, trams and even planes are close by. There's also loads of activities, societies and other commuter students at BCU, meaning you'll never miss out on the uni lifestyle if you're living at home.
Are there any scholarships and bursaries available?
If you apply to an undergraduate course at BCU and secure results in the qualifications you are studying that exceed our published entry requirements (for the course you've applied for) you could be eligible for our Scholarship. See full information about the Up-Grade Scholarship.

Can I do a placement year or study abroad during my course?
You can find out if the course you are interested in runs a placement year by checking its course page. There's also loads of opportunities to study abroad during your course and broaden your horizons!
How do I find out more about the facilities I'd be using during my course?
From mock hospital wards to a green screen studio, our cutting edge facilities ensure that you're always up-to-date with your skills and industry knowledge. Discover more about the facilities depending on your course.
How do I find out more about the modules and assessment methods for my course?
Every course page will have a 'course in depth' tab, which will detail the modules you will undertake, plus the assessment frequency and methods. This is a great way to find out if you can specialise in the area you are interested in, or do a course that has minimal exams.
How can I find out more about the staff who would be teaching me?
On each course page, the 'facilities and staff' tab details who teaches on the course. You can then find their staff profiles on our website to find out more about their research, specialities and any publications they may have worked on (if you really want to impress them on your first day!).
How do I find out the entry requirements for my course?
Entry requirements are listed on each course page under the tab 'entry requirements'. This will break down different types of qualifications so you can see if you would meet the requirements.
What student support services are offered at BCU?
BCU offers a wide range of student support services to help make your time go smoothly from application to post-graduation. From disability and mental health support to career advice, explore what services we offer.
