Offer Holder Day FAQs

OHDs are optional for offer holders to attend. They provide a valuable opportunity to get to know the course better and in more depth than an Open Day. You will have the opportunity to experience real-life classes and practical activities, get familiar with the campus, get to know your future tutors better, as well as speak to students on the course.

Our Open Days are designed to introduce you to everything we offer at BCU and to help you to find the right course for you. Our OHDs are specifically for offer holders to explore your course of interest in more depth, with practical sessions delivered in groups. You’ll have an opportunity to meet offer holders who could potentially be your fellow classmates, as well as ask questions to student support services, tour accommodation and ask any questions that you might have before starting the course.

You will receive an email invitation to an OHD after we have made you an offer of a place to study at Birmingham City University. If you have received an offer but have not received an invite to an OHD, please contact us.

If you have applied to BA Acting or BMus, you will be invited to attend an interview/audition rather than an Offer Holder Day.

If you haven’t received an email to confirm your booking within 48 hours of registering for an OHD, please check your junk email. If you haven’t received it after this time, contact CRM@bcu.ac.uk with your name, course, and date that you have booked for, and we will check your details and re-send the confirmation email to you.

If you want to change the date of your OHD, you can do this by emailing CRM@bcu.ac.uk with your name, course, and the date that you would like to change to. You can see all dates for your course via the link in your invite.

If you can no longer attend and want to cancel your booking, please email CRM@bcu.ac.uk along with your name and the date of the OHD to inform us that you are unable to attend, and we will cancel your booking.

If you cannot find your OHD email, please contact CRM@bcu.ac.uk along with your name and course, and we will re-send the email to you. We also send email reminders in the lead up to the event, so you can expect to receive more emails between booking and the event date - be sure to look out for these too.

You will be invited to an OHD for every course that you have applied for at BCU. Therefore, if you have not registered for all OHDs that you been invited to, you may continue to receive event reminders.

If you have registered for all the Offer Holder Days that you want to attend, please ignore any additional emails inviting you to book.

If you are having trouble booking your OHD on the webpage, please contact CRM@bcu.ac.uk to report this, along with your full name, course, and preferred date to attend and we will get back to you to assist with your booking.

All available spaces for our Offer Holder Days are listed on the website, so if your preferred date is fully booked, we suggest you book onto another date. Alternatively, you can check back at a later stage to see if any places become available.

It may take longer to process applications for some courses, so offers and invitations to Offer Holder Days will arrive at different times after you apply. If you have applied for more than one course, you will receive further Offer Holder Day invitations if you receive an offer.

We ask that you bring a maximum of one guest on the day. The practical activities are designed specifically for offer holders, so parents, carers and guests will be provided with a separate schedule of activities to attend during the offer holder sessions, to give them the chance to have questions answered and learn more about student life at BCU. Details will be available for your guest on the day. 

The format of the day is flexible. Check-in is open from 10am, and our Support Services are available from 10am until 3pm for you to ask questions about Admissions, Funding, Careers and Accessibility. We are also offering Accommodation and Campus tours between 10am and 3pm.

Talks and taster activities are available at different times during the day, so please consult the schedule to ensure that you can attend the sessions you want.

We recommend making sure you attend the Next Steps talk, which has lots of information about what to do now you have your offer, and the course taster sessions, as this is your opportunity to find out what it’s really like to study your course, and meet other people who will be on the course with you.

The flexible structure of the day means that you may be able to attend taster sessions for more than one course. However, this will depend on availability, as not all courses are available on all dates. If you are interested in more than one course, please let our staff know when you check in, and they can advise you on the options available.

If you are not able to attend a taster session for all the courses you are interested in, then you can still talk to lecturers to find out more about the other courses for which you have an offer.

Of course. The format of the day is flexible, so if you are unable to stay for the full day due to other commitments, you are welcome to attend for the time that you are available. We recommend reviewing the schedule and activities before you attend, to make sure you can see all that you want to while you are here.
