One expert is Psychology Professor Craig Jackson, who is due to appear in a new television programme which reveals the motives for killers to commit their crimes.

The new series, Encounters with Evil, will come face-to-face with some of the world’s most deranged criminals, including interviews with serial killers, cult leaders, sex offenders and kidnappers. Using ITN’s archive, the series will include expert analysis and interviews with those closest to the cases, learning and understanding more about the minds of the world’s most notorious criminals.

Professor Jackson is one of the experts in the series, providing his views on the key aspects of each crime, revealing the important moments within the lives of these offenders that were crucial to the development of their behaviour. Professor Jackson said:

The ten part series, due to air on CBS Reality, will focus on four high-profile cases from a range of topical themes, including cannibalistic killers, cult leaders, mass killers and kidnappers.

Discussing his contribution to the new series, as well as the importance of the new series to students learning on our social science courses, Professor Jackson replied: “It was not one of those many shows that relies on dramatic reconstructions of crimes, but uses genuine and original news footage throughout that many students will have not seen before.
