Euan completed his PhD at the University of Leeds in May 2020. His thesis was entitled: Security, Emancipation and Narcotics- State Vigilantism and the War on Drugs in Southeast Asia. He then undertook a White Rose ESRC Postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Leeds, mentored by Professor Adrian Gallagher. He has published his research in International Political Sociology, Pacific Review, and the International Journal of Drug Policy.

His research focuses on the war on drugs, extrajudicial killing, Southeast Asia, critical security studies, and human rights. Currently his work also focuses on children in international relations, genocide, and the responsibility to protect.
