On 17 November 2025, as part of the That’s Me! Project, Employer Engagement Officer Kami Jones accompanied a group of five Global Majority Postgraduate Researchers (PGRs) on a workplace visit to a Birmingham-based precision manufacturer with over 160 years of engineering excellence.
The visit provided participants with first-hand insight into Brandauer’s use of advanced stamping technologies to produce high-precision metal components for global markets, including automotive, electronics, and renewable energy. The tour spanned the factory floor, CAD studio, and multiple operational departments, offering a comprehensive view of the end-to-end manufacturing process. Throughout the visit, Brandauer teams also presented current innovations, showcasing how technology, process improvement, and skilled expertise come together in a modern manufacturing environment.
A key outcome of the visit was the meaningful connection built between Brandauer and Global Majority researchers, creating space for open dialogue around innovation, ethics, sustainability, and inclusive career pathways. These relationships will continue beyond the visit through the legacy of the That’s Me! Project, supporting longer-term engagement between employers and underrepresented research communities.
Brandauer is a valued member of the That’s Me! Employer Board, with a strong commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within its workforce and across the advanced manufacturing sector. Its continued involvement highlights how employer partnerships can help widen access, champion diverse talent, and strengthen pathways into industry beyond academia.
