Kusminder has worked as a practitioner-researcher within a variety of organisations and places locally, nationally and internationally. This has led to a passion for understanding lived experiences, how better to exchange research knowledge, inform practice and policy and work in partnership with people who are co-researchers and beneficiaries of research.
Kusminder undertakes research, evaluation, training and policy development on issues including hate crime and support services for victims, community and housing-based studies, and organisational approaches to equality and diversity. Kusminder utilises his research experiences to frame teaching and training as tools that can effect change and have an impact.
Kusminder co-led on the BCU School of Social Sciences Birmingham 2029 initiative, which focused on community-university engagement and research. Currently Kusminder has a knowledge exchange partnership with Stop Hate UK and has delivered training to over 1800 participants and provided consultancy support to a range of sectors in the past 2 years. In 2022, this partnership was highly commended by the BCU Knowledge Exchange Awards.
In 2023, Kusminder and his research team were awarded the Best research with public and third sector at the BCU Knowledge Exchange Awards. Kusminder is the current College Academic Lead for Equality, Diversity & Inclusion.
