Professor Michail Mantzios is an internationally recognised researcher in mindfulness and mindful eating, whose work spans health psychology, eating behaviours, obesity, wellbeing, self-compassion, and behavioural interventions.

As a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he combines research excellence with a strong commitment to enhancing student wellbeing, academic success, and employability. He led 4-star and -star Impact Case cases in the previous Research Excellence Framework (REF2021) and has been recognised among the Top 2% of global researchers by Stanford University and Elsevier (2023-2025).

He also led in the past as a Director of Research, Enterprise and Innovation, and currently leads the MindFuel Lab: Applied and Experimental Research in Behaviour Change and Eating; a highly productive research group that has generated substantial scholarly outputs, postgraduate research activity, international collaborations, and translational health initiatives.

His research and applied experience, including previous work within military mental health services and voluntary counselling settings, have contributed to the development of innovative psychological measures, interventions, and evidence-based practices that advance understanding and promote health, wellbeing, and positive behavioural change across diverse populations.
