Sharon qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1991 and has worked in both acute and critical care settings. Additionally, Sharon has also worked as a Practice Nurse, Tissue Viability Nurse and Practice Development Nurse.

Following the completion of a Master's degree in Advanced Nurse Practice in 2002, she moved into Higher Education as a Senior Lecturer. She has taught both pre and post qualifying nurses. Sharon has served as module lead for both year one and year three pre-registration nursing modules; programme lead for the adult nursing course and course lead for the mentorship course. As personal tutor, Sharon provides academic direction, professional and pastoral support to students. In 2016, Sharon received a recognition award by the College of Nursing and Midwifery for providing excellent support to students.

Sharon has worked collaboratively with Trust and Independent sector partners to maintain placements for students.

Sharon is eager to see strategies put in place which improves the attainment gap. Even though challenging, she believes improvement in the attainment gap is doable.
