Nusrat is an experienced Registered Nurse, and Operating Theatre and Cath-Lab Specialist with critical care and cardiac intensive care experience, and a motivated postgraduate doctoral researcher with knowledge and experience in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research.

Having up to date knowledge and training about Good Clinical Practice (GCP), GDPR, and Informed Consent, she is motivated to conduct healthcare research in achieving robust evidence in improving quality of care of patients and the public.

Nusrat’s academic journey began with a BSc in Nursing leading to a critical care nurse in cardiac intensive care and cardiac Cath-lab. Her passion and curiosity for continuous professional development pushed her to undertake a sponsored Erasmus Mundus joint Master’s degree in critical care and emergency nursing from Portugal, Spain and Edinburgh Napier, UK.

This joint degree helped her to gain a Cath-Lab and operating theatre specialist role with the Medtronic, one of the world’s leading medical device companies during the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, she taught doctors interns and students about innovation and appliances that were introduced by the company for the quality of patient care and provide healthy solutions with advanced technology.

Being an advocate for person-centred care for individuals living with dementia and the evidence of clinical and ethical decision-making processes in critical care settings for this patient category enabled Nusrat to secure a fully funded doctoral degree to conduct research in the NHS in central England. This rigorous journey has equipped her with comprehensive understanding of research; she aims to aspire other colleagues and students to foster a culture of evidence-based practice and person-centred care towards patients and service users in their clinical roles.

Over the few years, she engaged in independent research, and on collaborative research projects with peers to critically evaluate scholarly literature and conduct research following the Good Clinical Practice guideline to contribute insights to the body of knowledge for nurses and other multidisciplinary teams within healthcare.
