Melanie Mills is a qualified social worker with over twenty years post-qualifying experience in a range of clinical settings. Her interests are predominantly in safeguarding children and young people and mental health across the lifespan but working with whole families and applying a think family approach to all areas of practice is key. Melanie has worked in local authority childrens’ services as a named social worker in child protection and child in care cases and as a therapeutic social worker in CAMHS. Melanie later held the posts of safeguarding lead in substance misuse services and Childrens Centres. Her most recent posts were in adult mental health services where Melanie was initially the training lead for safeguarding across a large Trust. Prior to joining BCU, Melanie was the safeguarding lead for perinatal mental health services in Birmingham and Solihull.
