Academic explores the motives of fathers who murder their children

Senior Lecturer in Sociology Dr Liz Yardley has been widely consulted on her recent research into fathers who murder their children, following the recent tragic news of Julian Stevenson, the British man who killed his two children in France.

The Centre for Applied Criminology at Birmingham City University has been carrying out research into this phenomenon - known as 'family annihilation', and Liz has been discussing within the media how this case shares characteristics with many which have preceded it. In her article for the Daily Mail, and interview on ITV's 'This Morning', Liz explained the links between family breakups and an increase in fathers murdering their children in acts of revenge or despair.

Liz's blog explores this issue in further detail.
