Birmingham City University has joined forces with Medialab Prado for an exciting collaboration aimed at bringing together artists, designers, scientists and digital developers from across the City.

Interactivos Birmingham is a two-week international seminar and innovation prototyping workshop, taking place at Mac Birmingham from Monday 16 to Saturday 28 June.

Supported by the Arts Council England, the event is led by Birmingham City University in partnership with Madrid's Medialab Prado, Sampad, Mac birmingham and BBC Birmingham and will be the first Interactivos project to be hosted in the UK.

"The project is driving a cultural change in innovation, working with an entrepreneurial community to deliver a hybrid of activity that combines seminar, workshop and exhibition showcase," said Alexa Torlo, Birmingham City University's Project Manager for Interactivos Birmingham.

"We're looking forward to bringing together an eclectic mix of fresh new thinking, talent and cooperation between different sectors over a two-week workshop using open innovation processes to expand the use of electronic and software tools for artists, designers and educators."

Marcos Gracia, Medialab Prado Director said: "We are delighted to be working in Birmingham to develop their ideas to provide a collaborative context for artists, designers, technologists and anyone interested in getting together to share skills and knowledge, through the development of open innovation projects."

Clayton Shaw from Sampad said: "We are excited to be working with our European partners to bring artists together with people working with digital technology to find new ways to create interactive experiences that surprise and delight audiences."

Further details on how you can get involved with Interactivos Birmingham will be revealed in March.
