Birmingham student wins prestigious international piano competition

A Birmingham Conservatoire student is celebrating after winning First Prize in the 2016 Brant International Piano Competition.

Over three rounds Domonkos Csabay, a second-year student at Birmingham Conservatoire, played Beethoven’s 'Waldstein' sonata, Schubert’s 'Wanderer Fantasy' and works by Scarlatti, Mozart, Liszt and Adès.

The Brant International Piano Competition provides young pianists with the chance to further their careers and perform in world class venues.

Domonkos' prize includes £3,000 and a recital engagement at Town Hall, Birmingham.
