New students at Birmingham City University are set to be given a warm welcome this week as the University hosts its biggest Welcome event in its history.
Welcome Fair 2013 (formerly known as Freshers Fair) takes place at the University's City Centre Campus on Wednesday 18 September and promises to be a fun-filled day of welcome events and activities, where new students can learn about the many groups and societies that they can be a part of.
A range of events will take place at the University's brand new Parkside Building which opens to students for the first time this month and is part of a £180million investment into the University's estate, bringing together the University's world-class design and media provision to form a creative learning hub and the biggest broadcast centre in any UK university.
As well as students being able to sign up to sport and volunteering clubs and societies, a host of external companies will also be highlighting the best of what Birmingham has to offer, including The Giant Screen Cinema at Millennium Point who'll be hosting free film screenings for Birmingham City University students.
The Birmingham City Students' Union team will also be taking over Birmingham's new Eastside City Park, with a full schedule of interactive games taking place throughout the day.
Joe Boyd, President of Birmingham City Students' Union, said: "This year's Welcome Fair is going to be like nothing BCU has experienced before! Free buses will be provided for students from our City North and City South campuses, so there is no excuse to miss seeing the new Parkside Building, packed with all our most active, passionate students showcasing the sports teams and societies they run."
The Welcome Fair event runs from 11am until 6pm on Wednesday 18 September. For more information visit our website.
