Here at Birmingham City University, all Law students can develop their advocacy skills by joining the Mooting Society. First year student Victoria Marks impressed the judges of this term’s first internal moot and successfully beat off competition from second and third year students.
Keen mooters took to the Birmingham City University court room to put their case forward in the annual ‘balloon debate’. With each student representing a famous character, the court needed to be convinced as to why each character should be saved from a falling hot air balloon that is rapidly losing height and needs its load lightened to stay afloat.
Victoria put her persuasive debating skills to the test and successfully convinced the court that Dumbledore was the most worthy survivor of the balloon accident. Second place was also impressively scooped up by a first year student, Jessica Bradburn (as Hannibal Lecter) and third place went to Laurence Smith (as David Cameron).
