Students awarded for outstanding performance during Employability Challenge Week

University News Last updated 25 March 2014

The second Birmingham City Business School Employability Challenge Week this year, highlighted more student talent and success, culminating in prizes of iPad Minis for students that displayed exceptional performances.

Our Employability Challenge Weeks are an excellent opportunity for our students to take part in business related games, simulations and activities, to build their confidence, skills and employability opportunities.  Sessions include lectures from guest speakers from industry, mock interviews, mock assessment centres, psychometric test workshops, CV workshops, networking sessions and business challenges such as Dragon’s Den style events.

The School understands that graduate employment is very competitive, and that having a good degree is no longer enough to get students into their chosen career.  This is why weeks such as these can be so important, and the experiences gained at these events, can be included in student CVs to boost their chances of employment success.

Two students, Aroosha Rasuel and Vladina Chira decided to take part in the mock assessment centre session with some of their peers, and had to complete a set of three activities where they were judged on their performance by a panel of faculty academics.  The panel were so impressed with their commitment, professionalism and enthusiasm that they were both awarded with an iPad Mini as a prize.

Vladina said, “The activity gave me the opportunity to experience new things, challenged me to face difficult situations and showed me my weaknesses and the areas that could be improved. I really felt like I was attending a real assessment centre.”

At Birmingham City Business School, we pride ourselves on giving our students the knowledge, skills and opportunities to stand out from the crowd.  Whether you are interested in securing a part-time job, a work placement, or a graduate position, our Employability Challenge Weeks are just one of many ways we can help you to excel and achieve future success.
