Birmingham City University has welcomed Martin Reynolds as the Head of Centre for Leadership and Management, which is part of the Birmingham City Business School.

Martin joined the University last month (October) from Anglia Ruskin University where he was Pro Vice Chancellor. He has worked in higher education for more than 30 years, previously working at Sheffield Hallam and Nottingham Trent Universities. Over the past ten years Martin has been actively involved in developing new and innovative work-based courses for companies at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. He was involved in securing a significant amount of company funding, including a corporate donation of over £5million in 2009 to establish a new research institute for International Management Practice at Anglia Ruskin

The Centre for Leadership and Management Development focuses on business and employer engagement, and upon growing third stream income activity, largely through the design and delivery of bespoke courses (both accredited and non-award bearing) for companies. The Centre also intends to grow consultancy and company sponsored research and currently runs big programmes with SPAR, Mitchells and Butlers, Jewson and St Gobain.

Martin said: “I hope my experience will allow me to make an important contribution to the development of the new Centre for Leadership and Management Practice at Birmingham City University.”

Dean of Birmingham City Business School, Chris Prince, said: “We are delighted that Martin has joined the Faculty. Martin held a very senior post whilst at Anglia Ruskin University and it is testament to the investment we are making in the Business School, such as the revamped Postgraduate Suite, that we are able to attract someone of Martin’s calibre.”
