On Thursday 13th September 2012, the Centre for Business Innovation and Enterprise (CBIE), within Birmingham City Business School, will be hosting the second annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the Workplace Seminar.

This event, which will take place on the main city north campus in Perry Barr, looks at sustainable product design, development and life-cycle use.
CSR encourages corporate entities to manage their business processes ethically and make a social contribution in the regional, national or global arenas. It allows an entity to achieve this social contribution while improving its stakeholders’ interests without negatively impacting business objectives. To do this effectively, CSR values must be embedded within an organisation and transcend the market place, workforce, environment and the community. Modern business leaders – whether managers, accountants or financiers – will benefit therefore from understanding contemporary CSR issues. As Mervyn King, Chairman, King Committee on Corporate Governance, International Federation of Accounting Committees (IFAC) recently said, “Society expects the corporate citizen to act as a decent citizen.”

CBIE’s second innovative one-day CSR seminar brings together leading experts in this field who provide an insightful and fascinating view of these very issues to an invited practitioner and academic audience.

Further information about the event, and for registration details, visit the CBIE website or contact Dr Philip Talbot or Professor David Edwards by email or on 0121 331 5689/6252.
