Thirteen talented BA (Hons) Product Design and BA (Hons) Furniture and Lifestyle Products graduates from Birmingham School of Architecture and Design have exhibited their work at New Designers 2016, an exhibition considered to be the UK’s ‘most important’ for emerging design.
The event, hosted in the Business Design Centre in London between July 6 and July 9, showcased the work of 3,000 talented graduates from the best design courses in the country.
The projects
Selected students had the opportunity to explain their projects to industry professionals, media, manufactures and retailers. Jason Nicholson, Programme Director for Product Design, Furniture and Lifestyle Products, and 3D Designer Maker courses at Birmingham School of Architecture and Design said:
"This valuable experience provided an opportunity for our graduates to forge new contacts and create new opportunities for future development of their work."
Graduates showcased work including a knockdown furniture collection made from felt (made from recycled bottles), shoes for skateboarders, Bamboo luxury products and a design for an autonomous sea drone.

The display also included work from RSA (The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) Student Design Award winner Kenneth Lee from the Hong Kong Product Design top-up degree. Jason added:

The event was captured by Product Design, Furniture and Lifestyle Products, 3D Designer Maker and Interior Design bloggers. Their SAP (Student Academic Partnership) project aimed to track student projects, events and successes through the academic year.
