FAQs: MSc Forensic Psychology

To pursue a career with the protected title of Forensic Psychologist, you will need to complete a Master’s accredited by the BPS. However, you don’t have to be a Forensic Psychologist to work in this area. This course will prepare you for a range of similar roles in the field, such as:

• Interventions Facilitator (including in Youth Offending Teams)

• Prison and Probation Services (Prison Officer, Probation Officer)

• Policing (including Detective Constable, Vetting Officer, and Police Analyst)

• NHS and Forensic Mental Healthcare roles (such as Psychological Wellbeing
Practitioner, Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner, Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner, Educational Mental Health Practitioners, Clinical Associate Psychology Apprenticeships, Assistant Psychologist, Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant)

• Charity roles (including Independent Domestic Violence Advisor, Domestic Violence Support Practitioner, Support Worker, Policy Researcher)

You could progress on to a range of different careers following the course, such as:

• Interventions Facilitator (including in Youth Offending Teams)

Alternatively, you may want to consider further study through a PhD, or move into a completely different field.
