Dr Emma Luce Scali holds a doctorate in law from the University of Nottingham. She is a Lecturer at BCU School of Law, where she leads the module on Public International Law, and teaches on the EU Law and Global Perspectives on Human Rights modules.

Prior to joining the University in 2001, Sonya had been a solicitor dealing with family law matters, then moving into litigation, dealing with employers’ liability and personal injury claims. In 2003 Sonya became the CPE/GDL Programme Director and then became the Legal Practice Course Programme Director in 2004.

Following undergraduate studies at the City of Birmingham Polytechnic and completing postgraduate studies at the University of Law in Chester, Janet qualified and practised as a solicitor in Birmingham for a number of years before starting a career as an academic in 2005.
