Rebecca joined BCU as a Lecturer in Law in August 2021. She has recently completed her PhD in prisoner rights under the European Convention on Human Rights at the University of Exeter. Her research interests include: prisoner rights and imprisonment; criminal justice; European human rights law; criminal law; and constitutional law. She is particularly interested in the relationship between the state and the individual, and the role of human rights in protecting vulnerable groups. Rebecca is currently the module lead for the L5 modules: Constitutional and Administrative Law; and Human Rights and Criminal Justice. She has also previously taught modules on Criminal Law; Legal Systems; and Freedom of Expression.

Before starting as a Lecturer, Rebecca qualified with a first-class degree in Law with French Law from the University of Oxford, receiving a prize for submitting the best paper in Criminology. Following this, she was awarded a scholarship to remain at Oxford and complete the BCL, and subsequently accepted a full scholarship to complete a further research masters and a PhD in Law at Exeter.
