For Ghanaians living in Birmingham, you will be welcomed to a friendly, multicultural city where you will feel very much at home – Birmingham has lots to offer including major food stores featuring many world foods.
We have many places of worship in Birmingham and venues where you can walk in and listen to live music. There are entertaining places to go out, including StarCity which has a 25 screen cinema, bowling alley and places to eat.
It's a particularly exciting time to become a student at Birmingham City University. We've invested over £500 million in our estate, including a major expansion of our City Centre Campus at Eastside, providing students with an enviable range of facilities.
Our research work continues to attract international attention, 93% of our research was recognised internationally for originality, significance and rigour, of which 19% was judged world-leading (REF 2021).
Undergraduate course
We welcome applicants with an average grade ranging from A1 to B2 in at least six subjects on the ‘West African Senior School Certificate’ or ‘West African Senior School Certificate for School or Private Candidates’ (WASSCE) examination. Alternatively, applicants may apply with a National Diploma (ND) or an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) with a 'Merit' profile or a GPA of 2.50 or above.
Postgraduate course
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2:2 classification.
Special requirements
Art and Design
All undergraduate courses in the art and design Schools require a good portfolio of artwork. Some postgraduate courses also require a portfolio, others require a proposal of studies, while some courses require both a portfolio and a proposal of studies. Please check the faculty website for specific requirements.
Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment (CEBE)
All undergraduate courses in the CEBE faculty require Mathematics at O Level. However, Mathematics is required at an AS Level minimum of Grade C or the equivalent for the Engineering suite and BEng Telecommunication and Networks.
Business School
All Business School undergraduate Year 1 courses require Mathematics minimum of Grade C at O Level or the equivalent.

Undergraduate
BCU is offering a scholarship of £5,000 to self-funding international undergraduate students joining BCU on a full-time degree. The scholarship will be applied as a tuition fee discount of £3,000 in year one and £2,000 in year two.

Postgraduate
BCU is offering a scholarship of £3,000 to self-funding international postgraduate students joining BCU on a full-time postgraduate taught Master’s degree. The scholarship will be applied as a tuition fee discount.
