Background info

The main goal for the interdisciplinary cluster for healthcare technology and disease is to bridge together biomedical engineering, life sciences, sport and exercise sciences working in broad collaboration with the local community to provide education on healthcare, biomedical sciences, biomedical engineering, sports and physical activities and conduct interdisciplinary research.

The cluster will promote collaborative studies in fields of practical research primarily related to health technology, exercise, the development of sports programmes, and instruction for people in every life stage, and will provide support for health.

Health technologies and sports promotion at the local level, support for the education of the community in those disciplines and the measurement of the impact of exercise and sports programs to promote healthy lifestyle.

Research objectives

  • To bring together engineering, life sciences, education, sport and exercise sciences in improving health.
  • To utilise engineering and technology to address healthcare issues
  • Development of novel engineering and technology paradigm to design healthcare systems
  • Investigate biological processes to support healthcare delivery and treatment.
  • To support the development of research themes and groups such as identifying and characterising talent in sport and sport psychology.
  • To provide research for academics and students that are working in mixed discipline research.
