Michelle qualified from the University of Liverpool and Northern Centre for Cancer Treatment (Newcastle) in 1999 with a BSc (Hons) in Radiotherapy and started work as a therapeutic radiographer at UHCW.

She then moved to London in 2001 and worked at the Royal Marsden Hospital, in Chelsea, as Senior 2/Band 6 clinical radiographer before moving into the medical physics department as a Senior Dosimetrist and Treatment Planner, gaining experience in IMRT, IGRT, Stereotactic and Brachytherapy treatments as well as radiotherapy treatment planning and dosimetry. She then moved back to the Midlands to work as a Band 7 radiographer at the QEH Birmingham (UHB).

She joined the university in March 2006 as Senior Lecturer. She has teaching responsibilities on both the MSc and BSc Therapeutic Radiography courses including research supervision and personal / clinical tutor roles as well as admissions and recruitment work.
