Kat qualified as a nurse in Australia 1998 and has over 20 years’ experience in the NHS across adult and child nursing in acute, intensive care and high dependency settings, alongside a range of leadership and management roles. Kat holds an MSc in Advanced Nursing Practice and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).

Kat has a particular interest in health inequalities in Birmingham, with doctoral research focused on exploring ways to address inequalities through nurse education. Currently a Senior Lecturer and Course Lead for Transforming and Leading modules and programmes at Birmingham City University. Also works as a Professional Nurse Advocate, experienced in facilitating guided reflection and restorative support for staff and students.
