Video Game Digital Art - digital portfolios
Content
Your digital portfolio should reflect the content and skills in your physical portfolio. The only difference is that you need to submit your portfolio through your applicant portal rather than physically bringing it on-site.
Content
Please open your portfolio with a short statement introducing yourself and your interests, feel free to highlight any areas of your portfolio that you would like us to focus on.
We always like to see a variety of ideas and concepts, try to include at least one project from start to finish – showing your process for research, concept and ability.
It’s a good idea to include any work you have done for industry.
Take some time to organise your portfolio so it tells a story, either chronological development or project by project, skill by skill.
If you are including work on a collaborative project, be sure to declare which work and elements you produced.
Skills we would like to see
Evidence of creative and critical thinking.
Use of a creative process for idea generation – research, concept, whitebox, paint overs.
Problem solving abilities.
Willingness to engage with all elements of digital art – 2D work, 3D work, classical skills (life drawing, anatomy, still life, sketch books).
Evidence that you are passionate about the subject.
Format
Submit your digital portfolio as one PDF file.
Your digital portfolio should be no more than 10MB. Please compress your file if it exceeds the limit.
Add any links to videos, animations, and moving image work in your PDF. Please check these links work before you submit your portfolio and that they can be easily accessed. We will not be able to view links that require a password.
Video Game Digital Art – Physical Portfolios
We don’t make offers on the course until we’ve been able to review an applicant’s work. If you don’t have a digital portfolio our first advice would be to make one. Scan your work in and or take photos and upload them to a website, anywhere online we can view your work we class as an online portfolio. If you absolutely can’t create a digital portfolio you’ll be invited to a ‘non offer holder’ Applicant Taster Day. During that session you’ll meet with a course tutor who’ll review your physical portfolio with you.
Video Game Development - digital portfolios
The content of your digital portfolio should show your current ability and passion as a games programmer.
Take a look at the course specific guidance below for help with putting your BSc (Hons) Video Game Development digital portfolio together.
