Mark Ovinis is an Associate Professor of Mechatronics in the Department of Engineering.

His areas of expertise include flow measurement, structural integrity, biosensors and energy storage.

He has a PhD from Loughborough University (UK), an MEng from Texas A&M University (USA), and a BEng from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He is also a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia.

Mark leads two final-year modules and has successfully completed several national and international research grants. He supervises postgraduate students and has co-authored over 150 publications, including two books. He has also provided expert consultancy to the PETRONAS Group Technical Solutions and the Malaysian Department of Drainage and Irrigation.
