Mark Ovinis is a Senior Lecturer in Mechatronics at the Department of Engineering. He joined BCU in 2022 and was previously a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia.
He received his PhD from Loughborough University, UK, his MEng in from Texas A&M University, USA and his BEng from Universiti Teknologi, Malaysia. He is a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia and a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia.
He has co-authored more than 100 publications, including two books, secured several national and international research grants, as well as graduated Master's and PhD students.
His research interest is in optical velocimetry for flow measurement, artificial intelligence for structural integrity, and nanomaterials for biosensors and energy storage.
