Shahla has worked at BCU since 2014 and she has had multiple roles. She is currently the Chemistry Module Lead (since 2016) for the Graduate Certificate Subject (Chemistry) Knowledge Enhancement course, where her SKE course was one of four Universities accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry (in 2017), and she has been the TeachFirst PGDip Science lead since 2018. Shahla also delivers the Chemistry Subject days for the Secondary Science PGCE and School Direct students. This year she is also delivering on the Primary Science PGCE course, the BA Year 1 Science course, and is a professional tutor on the BA/BSc (Hons) Secondary Education with QTS.

Shahla's wide and varied teaching experiences and consequently knowledge base, has allowed her to make her teaching, at HE, accessible and interesting by using a heutagogical approach. Keeping key concepts and principles totally succinct and linking them to real-life examples, the subject area can ‘come to life’ and hence motivate and inspire learning!
