Smart City Development is a comprehensive professional development course designed for individuals seeking to understand the principles, challenges, and opportunities associated with creating smart, sustainable, and future-ready cities.

Delivered by Dr Vahid Javidroozi, Associate Professor in Smart City Systems and founder of Birmingham City University's Smart, Sustainable and Green (SSG) Cities Research Alliance, the course draws upon extensive academic research, industry collaborations, and real-world smart city initiatives from around the world.

Participants will explore the evolution of smart cities, the concept of cities as complex systems, digital transformation, sustainability, governance, citizen engagement, and emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Digital Twins, and Smart Infrastructure.

Through case studies, practical discussions, and collaborative activities, participants will develop a holistic understanding of how successful smart city initiatives are planned, implemented, and managed.
