Overview

This three-day programme is delivered across successive Thursdays by Birmingham City University Business School academics. Underpinned by STEAM-based collaborative innovation principles, the course enables business leaders and managers to examine and apply the tools and frameworks that market-leading organisations use to build innovation into their business approach. 

The programme will enable you to reflect on your own innovation capabilities as well as helping you to assess and participate in the process of innovation as part of your day-to-day commitments.

Across the course of three days you will learn:

  • Practical techniques and access to tools to build business agility and resilience.
  • Methods that help you align innovation with your business value
  • Approaches to identify the needs and expectations of customers and stakeholders
  • Ways to enhance creativity and drive a culture of innovation
  • Systematic processes that enable business and operating model alignments
  • Models to understand your business eco-system
  • Where, when, what and how to exploit innovation.

  • On completion of our internationally recognised course (defined by the ISO 56002 Innovation Management System Guidance Standard), you’ll become a member of the Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Exchange and use the letters ‘MIKE’ after your name, in recognition of your skills and practical experience in delivering innovation.

The Certificate of Professionalism in Innovation is for business leaders and executives from any industry, looking for ways to deploy creative problem-solving techniques, engender a culture of innovation and create strategies for developing sustainable innovation pipelines in their business.

Schedule

This course is taught in three 8-hour in-person group sessions, and conducted in a collaborative, interactive atmosphere with leading Birmingham City Business School subject specialists.

  • Session 1: Thursday 16th May, 9am-5pm
  • Session 2: Thursday 23rd May, 9am-5pm
  • Session 3: Thursday 30th May, 9am-5pm
