Academic Writing Workshop (Co-Developing Stem-Related Papers for Publication)

Overview

This practical workshop has been designed to support academics, researchers, doctoral students, professionals, and practitioners in developing publishable papers from research projects, professional practice, innovation activities, and organisational initiatives.

Delivered by Dr Vahid Javidroozi, an experienced researcher, editor, and publication mentor, the workshop combines academic writing guidance with collaborative learning, peer support, and hands-on activities.

Participants will learn how to identify research opportunities, define novelty and contribution, conduct effective literature reviews, structure papers, select appropriate journals, respond to reviewers, and navigate the publication process.

A unique feature of the workshop is the use of collaborative writing approaches to support idea generation, paper development, team formation, and research collaboration.

This workshop is suitable for:

Doctoral researchers, Early Career Researchers, Academic staff, Research assistants and associates, Master's students undertaking dissertations, Industry researchers and R&D professionals, Public sector professionals, Consultants and analysts, Individuals wishing to publish professional practice or research outputs.

No previous publication experience is required.

Participants are encouraged to bring a research idea, project, dissertation chapter, dataset, case study, or professional initiative that they would like to develop into a publication.

What is included?

The main course is delivered in 8 weeks, comprising 4 workshop sessions (3 hours per week) and 4 group meetings (1 hour per week with tutors and 1 hour per week with members). There is also an optional three months support from tutor, including weekly discussion meetings and guidance until the paper is fully published. You will have an opportunity to bring specific challenges of your project into the course to be discussed and resolved.
