Dvořák Song to the Moon

RBC musicians go out and about for an hour-long free concert at the Library of Birmingham.  Music from the Baroque era of Handel and Bach rubs shoulders with operatic arias from Massenet and Puccini, music for solo piano by Granados and Rachmaninoff, and Irish Airs by Hamilton Harty.  Dvořák’s delicious aria Song to the Moon will send you on your way with a smile in your heart.

Sara de Visser (pictured) is currently studying for a Masters of Music, in Vocal and Operatic Performance at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, under the tuition of Yvonne Sandison.

For the past seven years, Sara has enjoyed a successful career as a freelance soprano, performing for the likes of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Welsh National Opera, Infinite Opera, Armonico Consort and Ex Cathedra.

Recent engagements include singing the role of Donna Elvira from Mozart’s Don Giovanni as part of the RBC Opera scenes. In February Sara took on the role of Domestique in Massenet’s opera Cendrillon. Her upcoming engagements include singing as soprano soloist for Schubert's Missa in G and CPE Bach's Magnificat in D with Brierly Hill Choral Society.

Sara Wilander made her debut as a soloist with the Sinfonia Classica of Brussels, Belgium at the age of 15. Whilst still at school, Sara studied with Professor Rolf Lindblom of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.

After preparatory studies at the Conservatoire National de Région of Chalon sur Saône, France, she continued at Birmingham Conservatoire under Simon Nicholls and Malcolm Wilson, where she completed her BMus(Hons), PgCert, PgDip and MMus.

She is in great demand as a performer and has appeared as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist throughout Europe and has participated successfully in Swedish, German, English and French competitions.
