Dr Wenge Xu
Lecturer in Human-Computer Interaction
Dr Wenge Xu is a lecturer in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and an active researcher at the Digital Media Technology Lab. He specialises in HCI, Extended (Virtual, Augmented, Mixed) Reality (XR), User Experience, 3D User Interface and Serious Games.
Wenge earned his PhD in Computer Science in 2021 with “Motion-based Interaction for Head-Mounted Displays” at the University of Liverpool. His PhD studies were supported by a Postgraduate Research Scholarship by Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (RDF 15-02-12). He is an award-winning academic and researcher. His awards include IEEE VR Best Conference Paper Nominee, ACM CHI PLAY Student Game Design Competition Finalist, and Outstanding Teaching Team Award (undergraduate program) in Suzhou.
Wenge has a strong HCI, XR, and Serious Games background. He has published roughly 30 International journals and conferences papers. Many of these publications are published in top-tier HCI conferences such as ACM CHI; top-tier XR conferences such as IEEE VR and IEEE ISMAR; top-ranked journals on graphics and visualisations such as IEEE TVCG and SIGGRAPH (i3D); and top-ranked serious game journals such as JMIR serious games and Games for Health. In addition, Wenge actively acts as a reviewer for many leading conferences (e.g. ACM CHI, IEEE VR, IEEE ISMAR) and journals (International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, JMIR serious games, IEEE Transactions on Games).
