Liam is an Assistant Lecturer in the School of Computing and Digital Technology and joined the University in 2016, having graduated from the Information and Communications Technology course.
Liam has worked in a Student Success Advisor role, focusing on student engagement, employability and certifications, and latterly took over as Team Leader, assisting with student engagement and experience across the Faculty of CEBE. This involved the development of Welcome Week activities, trialing innovative new projects such as Backloop and the University Assistant app.
After completing his PG Cert in HE, Liam moved across to the Foundation Year, supporting a brand new course covering a suite of 15 programmes. He has been teaching on a wide range of modules since joining the University, including Web Technologies, Applied Operating Systems, Server Systems, Academic Study Skills, Programming and more.
Liam has also been leading on the development of the Microsoft Certification opportunities and is passionate about seeing students gain technical certifications to boost their employability. Liam currently oversees the MOS and MTA certifications, and is working with other staff to trial other opportunities such as the Entrepreneurship and Small Business exam.
Even before teaching kicks off, Liam is helping to co-ordinate induction activities for Computing courses. He helped to develop the Induction Hack project, and continues to oversee and develop the first week of teaching to ensure students have an educational, fun and memorable first week at BCU.
Liam is now exploring opportunities for research into student experience, certifications, induction activities, and more.
