Dr Stephanie Arevalo Arboleda
Dr Stephanie Arevalo Arboleda is a lecturer in Human-Computer Interaction. Her current research includes understanding human perception and behaviour in extended reality environments, as well as investigating human-robot relationships and interactions with physical robots and their digital twins. Dr Arevalo Arboleda approach to research is through human-centred design and using mixed-methods analysis. Her goal is to understand how new technologies affect social relationships and influence behaviour.
Before joining BCU, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the RWTH Aachen University and TU Ilmenau, in Germany, where her work focused on avatar and robot-mediated communication. She received her PhD from the University Duisburg-Essen, Germany, where she investigated the use of augmented reality for human-robot interaction.
Dr Arevalo Arboleda is actively involved in HCI research and the SIGCHI community. She has authored scientific publications in top-tier conferences and journals such as ACM CHI, ACM CSCW, ACM/IEEE HRI, IEEE TVCG, IEEE ISMAR, and IEEE VR and IEEE Ro-Man.
