Russell is a former professional and international athlete whose career spanned over 17 years. Highlights include winning a world championship gold medal, three silvers and a bronze medal. Russell held various leadership (Captain) roles during his professional career. During his professional ice hockey career, Russell co-founded a charity, which saw him manage and oversee the major organisational functions – strategy, management marketing.
Russell (certified with the HEA) is currently the academic lead for Teaching Excellence and Student Experience (TESE) in Business, Digital Transformation and Entrepreneurship. Russell has been an academic for 15 years, which has included the creation, development and leadership of multiple courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Russell received his PhD, which focused on consumer behaviour, in May 2018 from Coventry University.
