Professor Christian Edger

Professor of Multi-Unit Leadership

Chris Edger's blog posts offer a taste of his critical thinking when it comes to the issues and challenges facing business and organisations. But it's not just the students on his courses that benefit from his extensive expertise. With strong personal links to some of the most outstanding professionals in the retail, leisure and hospitality sectors, he's the dynamic interface between the real world of business and the classroom, attracting some impressive professionals to share their expertise with the School.

Chris brings us experience at the highest level as he was previously ‘Executive Director of HR, Service and Productivity’ at Mitchells & Butlers Plc, home to well-known brands such as Browns, All Bar One, Toby, Harvester, Sizzling and Ember.

Now, as Director of the Academy of Multi-Unit Leadership and Strategy, he spearheads our groundbreaking work with some of the UK's leading leisure and retail businesses, accelerating district, regional and area leader performance.

An expert on the latest retail and entertainment issues, he is a knowledgeable commentator on current key developments, bringing that expertise to the whole School. He's the author of 'Effective Multi-Unit Leadership – Local Leadership in Multi-Site Situations' (Gower 2012).
