Panagiotis Patlakas
Panagiotis has a multi-disciplinary background with qualifications in structural engineering and architectural studies, and a track record in information technology and software engineering for Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC).
His research interests cover a range of topics in these fields, with an emphasis on digital technologies in AEC. At BCU he contributed to the Horizon Europe ACCORD project (led by Prof Edlira Vakaj), and the Innovate UK-funded Knowledge Engineering Platform for DfMA houses (led by Prof Franco Cheung). Previously, he was the lead developer of EnViz (a research software for the nD visualization of environmental data) and Teretron (a commercial software for Structural Timber Design to Eurocode 5).
At BCU, he has led the development of a number of courses, including the BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering course. He has held the roles of Team Lead for Civil Engineering (2018 – 2023) and Subject Lead for Civil and Environmental Engineering (2023 – 2025). Prior to joining BCU, Panagiotis worked at the University of Sheffield and Solent University.
