Emma Love

Emma Love is a Senior Lecturer and teaches on the Building Surveying course as well as a variety of other modules on other undergraduate programmes within the faculty. Emma has a long association with Birmingham City University having taken both her own HNC Construction and Building Surveying degree here.

She also has links with other faculties at BCU through past studies, previous student projects and current projects. Emma returned to BCU as a full-time lecturer in 2014. Emma has been fortunate to have had a varied portfolio career which has included running her own interior design consultancy, working as a building surveyor in both local authority and a large global practice all whilst teaching either part time or full-time. Her teaching career now extends to over twenty years of practice in a variety of different settings.

Alongside this Emma also has a keen interest in creative pedagogy. Away from the University Emma is an established and published photographer with a particular interest in the graffiti culture, placemaking, urban planning, architecture and the built environment and urban culture. She is part way through a part time PhD, which considers the impact which graffiti has upon the built environment, which includes many aspects of placemaking and use of urban space.
