Earlier this year, BA (Hons) Music Business Course Director, Dr Matt Grimes, and recent graduates Corinne Stewart and Alfie McIntyre were honoured at the UK Music Academic Partnership (MAP) Awards, with Dr. Grimes triumphing over 17 others to be named Outstanding Tutor of the Year 2025.
Our students have been shortlisted for the Outstanding Music Graduate (OMG) Award every year for the last ten years, including two winners and two runners up. This year, Music Business alumna, Corinne Stewart, won this year’s OMG Award. After graduating in 2023, Corinne’s career began at Sony Live Music as a Client Relations Officer, and she has since moved on to work in Artist Promoter & Relations (EMEA) at Ticketmaster Music. Corinne was joined by fellow-graduate and business owner, Alfie McIntyre, who was awarded runner-up for the same Award. Based in Birmingham, Alfie is the founder of OurTurn, an events company showcasing local and upcoming talent.

We have been a UK MAP member since 2015, together with 17 other courses from Higher Education Institutions across the country. Every year UK MAP members are invited to nominate graduates for the OMG Award, recognising the contribution that the nominee has made to music industries since graduating.
Graduate nominees are then invited to nominate a Lecturer who went above and beyond in their role and was influential in the professional development and success of the nominee.
Matt reflected: “It’s a real privilege and honour to see two of our graduates awarded the top two OMG Awards – winner and runner-up, recognising their hard work, motivation, contribution and influence within the UK music industries. It’s also a testament to the Music Business course itself and the hard work of the teaching team Dr Asya Draganova, Robin Kay and Dr Simon Barber.
“It was really humbling to be recognised for almost two decades of Music Business teaching to undergraduates and postgraduates at BCU. Having a triple win at the UK MAP Awards is unprecedented and is an amazing outcome for the course, students and University.”
Corinne Stewart said: “Being taught and mentored by Matt Grimes has had a lasting impact on both my time at university and my career since graduating. His ongoing support, encouragement, and generosity with his time gave me the confidence and drive to pursue every opportunity – something I continue to carry with me. Matt was the first teacher who truly believed in me, and that belief made all the difference. Being nominated for an OMG feels incredibly special, and I’m proud to be recognised alongside so many talented alumni – it’s a real full-circle moment.
Alfie McIntyre said “Being nominated for this award means a lot to me. Realising that my work is being appreciated and recognised encourages me to keep going, especially when aspects of the music industry can be quite tough. My tutor has continued to show great support for me since my graduation, attending my events and also generally checking in with me from time to time. His insight means a lot to me and I’m sure we will stay in contact for a long time to come.”
