Priya Thirugnanarajah
BSc Psychology (Hons)
Priya has shown remarkable resilience throughout her journey back into higher education.
After initially leaving university during the COVID-19 pandemic due to mental health challenges, she worked as a medical secretary in Paediatric Neurology at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Encouraged by colleagues and consultants who recognised her potential, Priya decided to return to university and pursue her long-standing passion for sociology, psychology, and history. Returning as a mature student came with its own challenges, but she embraced the experience with determination.
Alongside her studies, Priya faced significant health difficulties, including complications following surgery for a detached retina, which has left her unable to see out of her right eye. Despite this, Priya has remained committed to her studies and continues to approach university life with strength and perseverance.
