Gay Place
Senior Technician
Gay works as a senior technician at the School of Art, where she is based in the 3D workshops, providing facilities for woodwork, metalwork and casting. She can mostly be found in the plaster room, where Gay offers support for students in various material processes involving mould making, casting and reproduction.
Gay also delivers support to students in general workshop methods, metal-working techniques and woodwork basics. She enjoys creating a relaxed environment where students are able to safely develop practical skills that will remain with them beyond their time with us.
With a background in fine art/material practice, Gay has had plenty of experience with the assorted disciplines, materials, forms and structures that can occur. Here, she successfully adapts her working methods to suit ongoing projects and actively encourages bad singing and dancing - and apparently Gay is quite strong!
