Ally Standing
Ally Standing is a Birmingham-based visual artist and Senior Lecturer whose multidisciplinary practice is rooted in photography and explores themes of urban aesthetics, the built environment, and psychogeography. Focusing on architectural details, overlooked spaces, textures, and colour, her work seeks to capture and convey the atmosphere of place. She has exhibited and had work featured in publications in both the UK and China.
At Birmingham City University, Ally is Course Director for the Art and Design Foundation Year and Senior Lecturer in Contextual Studies. Alongside leading the Foundation Year, she delivers Contextual Studies on the BA Fine Art programme and contributes to BIFCA (Birmingham Institute of Fashion and Creative Art), Birmingham City University's international partnership with Wuhan Textile University, as part of the Flying Faculty team.
